Our Puppy Classes utilize that special period during a dog's life when they are most easily trained. Puppy training classes are designed to develop friendly, well socialized pups, and to get pups and their owners started out on the right foot (paw?) Not only do the puppies love the classes, their owners tell us that training their puppy is the highlight of the week for both of them! Our Family Dog Training classes are for dogs five months and older. Our obedience classes are designed to not only teach you how to train a dog, but even more importantly how dogs think, learn and communicate, and how to use that knowledge to have a polite, well-mannered dog. Our six week long dog training classes include Beginning, Intermediate and Advanced, and the ever popular Tricks and Games Class. We wrote the book (literally!) on using positive reinforcement to create a happy pack of people and dogs, so come to the source and start becoming your dog's best friend right now.

Agility has become one of the fastest growing dog sports in the country! Teach your dog to jump, weave through poles, climb obstacles and run through tunnels. You and your dog will learn how to become a team, while navigating courses together. Whether you want to gain a fun new hobby or compete in Agility Trials, our classes are designed for you! Our Agility classes are offered on the West side of Madison at the Pet Lodge in Middleton. During the Spring, Summer and Fall seasons classes will be held in our outside fenced area. Winter agility will be held indoors on a 3/4" rubber matted surface.

Are you interested in learning more about what dogs do best naturally? Tracking incorporates using a dog's keen sense of smell to locate an object hidden from view --- often hundreds of yards away. This outdoor class is a wonderful way to exercise your dog's body and mind but is best for the hardy dog owner (because where your dog goes, so do you!)

Feisty Fido Class. This class is for dogs who bark and lunge at other dogs when they pass by on the street. It is only available to dogs who have had a private consultation with one of our animal behaviorists. That way we can insure that the class will be helpful for your dog and that you and your dog will get a head start on some of the exercises. Dog's Best Friend's new obedience curiculum will teach you and your dog, step-by-step, the AKC and UKC competition obedience exercises. The Focused Attention class provides an essential foundation for the obedience classes that follow, but also can reinforce your training relationship with your dog in other activities, such as agility. Positive reinforcement, repetition, and games are common elements in all classes.
