Dog Training Classes for Puppies and New Clients

At Dog's Best Friend Training, we believe classes should be fun, effective and family-friendly. Our dog training classes are designed to not only teach you how to train your dog, but how to communicate, and use that knowledge to have a polite, well-mannered dog. These dog-training classes help get dogs and their owners started off on the right "paw." Dogs love class, and their owners tell us it is the highlight of their week! Classes are held at six different locations in the Madison area, and schedules are listed below.

Puppy Kindergarten

Our Puppy Kindergarten class is for puppies between the ages of 9 and 19 weeks at the start of class. We teach basic commands such as: sit, down, come and attention work. We also start teaching puppies to have polite greetings, otherwise known as no jumping. Puppies also get socialization time in organized play sessions. Common puppy problems such as house training and puppy mouthing are covered in class. Our training methods are fun, effective and taught so that all family members can master them. Each class is one hour long.

Puppy II

Puppy II is for recent graduates of our Puppy Kindergarten class. New signals such as wait, leave it, and attention work are taught. We work toward improving stays and heel and begin working off-leash. Classes continue to incorporate puppy socialization time. This is a great class for your puppies entering "puppy adolescence!" Each class is one hour long.

Beginning Family Dog Training

This class is for dogs 5 months and older. This class focuses on teaching owners how to effectively communicate with their dogs in order to have a well-mannered pet. Exercises covered in class include: stay, down, come, wait, leave it, attention work and the foundations for heel. We also work on polite greetings, otherwise known as no jumping! Each class is one hour long.
